APProach – connecting EU mobile citizens with their welcoming cities
Objective
The possibility for citizens to move freely between EU member states is a high priority of the EU. The APProach project aims to launch a mobile app that will make it easier to access information about the city you are moving to.
The app will include such information as how to register as a citizen, how to enrol your children in school and your voting rights. The app will be developed for the six participating cities in close cooperation with EU citizens already living in these cities, as well as with municipal employees who have contact with EU citizens.
Activities
To meet the objectives of the project, the partners will:
- conduct focus group interviews in all cities with both EU citizens and municipal employees to find out what information to include in the app.
- make a survey on the same topics, to ensure input from a wide group of EU citizens and municipal employees.
- develop an app and online platform to help EU citizens find information about their new city.
- organise training sessions for municipal employees in e.g. English and the use and maintenance of the information found in the app.
- disseminate and demonstrate the app to EU citizens in the cities of the partnership.

The project is implemented in cooperation between:
- ALDA – European Association for Local Democracy, France (coordinator)
- Municipality of Etterbeek, Belgium
- Municipality of Milan, Italy
