V-PAL
Objective
Video-Based Peer Practice among Language Teachers (V-PAL) will enable language teachers to use video recordings in their competency development and quality improvement of their teaching. The target group is teachers who teach adults in second or foreign languages.
The purpose is to strengthen the teachers' awareness of their own teaching methods and to provide mutual sparring and supervision within a professional learning community.
Activities
In total, 50 trainers will be trained to share practice using video. Participants become "professional video friends" or V-Pals, who use their smartphones and tablets to record their teaching, share the videos on a common platform and then engage in dialogue with each other on strengths and opportunities for improvement. The goal of all participants is to increase the quality of language teaching. Participating countries also seek:
- to strengthen teachers, where there are otherwise little opportunities for continuing education
- to increase teachers' satisfaction in the job by creating professional development and pride
- to strengthen the individual at a time when greater demands are made on the effectiveness of education and where conditions and resources deteriorate
A handbook will be prepared with instructions on how practice videos are produced and used. In addition, the project holds a final conference.
