Double Bubble
Double Bubble is a three-year project that supports the EU aim of promoting the acquisition of at least two additional European languages among Europeans. The project will use innovative advertising tools to promote the multilingual comprehension of Germanic languages (Danish, German, Norwegian, Swedish & Icelandic). Specifically, the project aims to:

  • Promote language learning among the reluctant learners;
  • Spread the awareness on the practical value of multilingual comprehension;
  • Revitalize the interest in language learning among Europeans; and
  • Enhance enrolment at language schools.

The project will produce two kinds of final outputs--materials for local campaigns consisting of posters, stickers, postcards, and similar promotional materials with examples of multilingual comprehension in Germanic languages in places where people have to wait. These materials will serve as “Sneak in lessons” that will help target groups see the similarities between their national language and the selected Germanic language.
The project is funded by the EU-Lingua 1 Programme, and is a partnership among four organizations:
Coordinator: Himmel & Jord, Germany
Partners:      Videnscenter for Integration, Denmark
Bergen University, Norway
Young Trends, Sweden
