Projekts

Completed

Vejen frem (The Road Forward)
The project focuses on the success stories of a group of migrants and refugees who came to Denmark as adults.

People, who have taken another road than what generally is believed to be decided for them.

People, who have struggled and overcome the odds.

They will go out and tell their stories.

Companies, associations, and learning institutions can request for migrant participants to make presentations in their offices.

See how at www.vejenfrem.vifin.dk.

Hava's Story

Hava has done it: She has had only five years of schooling when she came to Denmark some 19 years ago. Today, Hava is a graduate of a course on health services and works as a caregiver.

When she tells other migrants and refugees about her education, they would also ask how she was able to balance her school- and work-lie with her private life.

What do you do at home? What does your husband have to say about your work? And what cleaning the house?

Because they can identify with Havva, they use her answers and experiences in a totally different way, in contrast to hearing her story said by other people, e.g., from a guidance counsellor. Moreover, Havva is a clear proof that refugees and migrants can be successful in spite of the many obstacles that confront them at the start.

In the project, a group of refugees and migrants who, like Havva, had managed well , will be trained to go out to relevant institutions and function as mønsterbrydere (pattern breakers). They will share their experiences, and in that way be role models for others.

The project is being implemented in partnership between the Hvidovre Sprogcenter (Language Centre) and VIFIN.
