Learning by Doing
Learning by Doing is a learning partnership project among six European countries, which facilitates the exchange of best ractices on integration of migrants and refugees to society, especially in relation to their integration to the labour market.

A survey is being conducted to identify employers’ expectations of migrants’ knowledge of the national language and their understanding of the values and rules at the workplace. The survey will also attempt to identify the barriers to migrants’ learning of and training in a second language.

Results of the survey will serve as basis for planning of better and more effective language and labour market training courses, and for dialogues with employers on the facilitation of better integration to the labour market.

The survey will be conducted from Autumn 2005 to Spring 2006 in all the parner countries.

Information exchange among the partners is being done through information sharing among language teachers, and a website where the best practice of the partner organisations are collected.

See www.migrants2work.com.

VIFIN is the project’s Coordinator. The other partners are:

  • Finland: Adult Education Institute of Vantaa
  • France: Rocher de Guyenne Learning Center
  • Czech Republic: SOZE, Society of Citizens Assisting Migrants
  • Germany: Rural Adult Education of Prignitz-Havelland e.V.
  • Norway: Strand Adult Education Centre

The project is funded by the European Commission-Socrates Grundtvig 2 Learning Partnerships Programme, and will be completed in August 2006.
